Synopsis:“Huda” is a short social commentary, set in Jordan, on the idea of getting married, no matter what. The film opens with Huda, getting dressed for her wedding at home, helped by her sister, Mariam. Mariam notices bruises on Huda’s body and is horrified by the realisation that Huda’s fiancé beats her. Mariam immediately wants to call everything off, but Huda is adamant about going ahead with the wedding. The film deals with the moral dilemma of the younger sister, decisions we make and the reality of such situations in everyday life..
Director’s biography: May Al- Ghouti is from Amman, Jordan. She has a degree in English Literature from the University of Jordan and a Master’s degree in Human Resources from Oxford. She worked as a recruitment consultant in Amman Municipality; during this time, she graduated from SAE institute in filmmaking studies. She lived and worked in Lebanon, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
