AREEB ZUAITER

Areeb Zuaiter is an independent filmmaker who is passionate about supporting rising cinematic voices. Her work focuses on art, identity and social issues. Zuaiter holds an MA in Film and Video production from American University in Washington, DC. She was nominated for Sony’s Outstanding Thesis Award; her début short “Stained” won the Jury Prize at the European Film Festival in Beirut and her latest documentary “Colors of Resistance” won multiple international awards.   Zuaiter previously worked as Goldman Sachs Film and Video Fellow at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and a Technology Associate at the Associated Press. Her most recent positions included heading the Regional Training Department at the Royal Film Commission – Jordan and teaching Visual Literacy, Film Production and History of Documentary as an adjunct professor in Washington, DC.   In addition to heading the Programming Department at the Amman International Film Festival for the third consecutive year, Areeb Zuaiter is currently working on her début feature documentary and on her upcoming short narrative film.
