Rules and Regulations

  • Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) requires all submitted films to be Jordanian premiere. Films previously screened in Jordan are not eligible. In addition, films already shown on any VOD, online platforms, TV, or any other similar media as well as films that are available for purchase are also not eligible.
  • Only film owners and official organisations are eligible to submit films. Film owners are defined as principal producer, authorised distributor, copyrights holder and/or other authorised person that owns the film.
Official Competition
  • Only films directed by Arabs are eligible to compete. Please refer to the Official Competition section for additional requirements.
  • In the feature-length Documentary section, only first-time directors in the feature documentary film’s category are eligible.
  • Only first-time directors are eligible for the Short Film competition. Please refer to the Short Film section for further information.
International Section
  • Debut feature-length films (all genres) from all over the world are showcased.
  • For the 1st edition of AIFF taking place in April 2020, only films released in 2019-2020 are accepted for submission.
  • AIFF considers a feature-length film as anything over 52 minutes.
  • The maximum duration for a short film is 30 minutes.
  • Submitted films must also meet additional selection criteria as described per section. The final selection of all films and their placement in the program are the responsibility of the Festival.
  • All films must be in their original language. If not in English, the film must be subtitled in English.
