Areeb Zuaiter is a multinational filmmaker based in Washington, D.C., whose work explores art, identity, and social issues. Her films have won multiple international awards. Her debut short, โStainedโ won the Jury Award at Beirutโs European International Film Festival, while her short documentary โColors of Resistanceโ was nominated for Sonyโs Outstanding Thesis Award and won multiple awards at the Colorado Activism Film Festival and the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards. Her latest short, โOne Last Wishโ, was nominated for the Youssef Chahin Award at the Cairo International Film Festival.
Zuaiterโs debut feature documentary, โYalla Parkourโ, premiered at DOC NYC in 2024, where it won the International Competition Grand Jury Prize. The film was later nominated for the Berlinale Documentary Award and the Panorama Audience Award for Best Documentary Film at the Berlin International Film Festival 2025.
Zuaiter has worked with the Associated Press, served as a Goldman Sachs Film and Video Fellow at the Smithsonianโs National Museum of American History, and led the Regional Training Department at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan. She has also taught at several universities in Washington, D.C., and currently heads the programming department at the Amman International Film Festival since 2021.
