AREEB ZUAITER

Areeb Zuaiter is a multinational filmmaker based in Washington, D.C., whose work explores art, identity, and social issues. Her films have won multiple international awards. Her debut short, โ€œStainedโ€ won the Jury Award at Beirutโ€™s European International Film Festival, while her short documentary โ€œColors of Resistanceโ€ was nominated for Sonyโ€™s Outstanding Thesis Award and won multiple awards at the Colorado Activism Film Festival and the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards. Her latest short, โ€œOne Last Wishโ€, was nominated for the Youssef Chahin Award at the Cairo International Film Festival.

Zuaiterโ€™s debut feature documentary, โ€œYalla Parkourโ€, premiered at DOC NYC in 2024, where it won the International Competition Grand Jury Prize. The film was later nominated for the Berlinale Documentary Award and the Panorama Audience Award for Best Documentary Film at the Berlin International Film Festival 2025.

Zuaiter has worked with the Associated Press, served as a Goldman Sachs Film and Video Fellow at the Smithsonianโ€™s National Museum of American History, and led the Regional Training Department at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan. She has also taught at several universities in Washington, D.C., and currently heads the programming department at the Amman International Film Festival since 2021.
