Aida Begić was born in Sarajevo. Her debut “Snow” premiered at Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique, where it won the Grand Prix award. Her film “Children of Sarajevo” premiered in Un Certain Regard where it received the Special Distinction of Jury Award. She wrote and directed the short film “Album”, which is part of omnibus “Bridges of Sarajevo” that had its world premiere in the Special Screening section of Cannes. Her feature film “Never Leave Me” won numerous awards at festivals worldwide, as well as her last feature film “A Ballad” which premiered in the Program of Sarajevo Film Festival. All four features were Bosnian candidates for the Oscars. She is a Professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the European Film Academy, the Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques.
