Before starting his acting career in the Arab world, Dhafer L’Abidine enjoyed a successful career in the West, appearing in international productions such as “The Looming Tower”, which received four Emmy nominations. In 2020, he had a key role in “The Eddy”, produced and directed by Oscar-winner Damien Chazelle.
L’Abidine starred in “Aroos Beirut” as well as “Halawat AlDounia”, for which he won the Murex D’or for Best Arab Actor in a TV Series.
In 2021, L’Abidine started his production company Double A Productions and directed his first feature film “Ghodwa”, which he co-wrote, starred in and produced in Tunisia. After its world premiere at Cairo International Film Festival, “Ghodwa” scooped the International Federation of Film Critics prize in 2021 and competed at the AIFF in 2022. In 2023, L’Abidine directed his second film “To My Son” which was screened across the Middle East and won best script and best film at the Arab Hollywood film Festival.
