Open Call for Web Series Submissions

The Amman International Film Festival (AIFF) is excited to announce an Open Call for the first edition of The Spark Series (TSS). This will be the first showcase of its kind in an Arab festival, whereby selected web series will be featured over two days during the “Amman Film Industry Days”, offering creators a unique platform to present their work to industry professionals, distributors and an engaged audience. This is your opportunity to shine and share your storytelling on an international stage.

• Two-Day Showcase: Be part of a special screening during the Amman Film Industry Days, attended by filmmakers, producers, distributors and key industry figures.
• Global Exposure: Gain visibility at the Amman International Film Festival, an event dedicated to celebrating Arab cinema and storytelling.
• Networking Opportunities: Connect with professionals and potential collaborators in the vibrant AIFF ecosystem.


Eligibility Criteria for Web Series Submission:

1. Year of Production:
• Web series must have been produced in 2024 or 2025.

2. Episodes and Duration:
• Each series must include at least three (3) episodes.
• Episodes should have a runtime of 3 to 10 minutes each.

3. Directors:
• The director(s) must be of Arab nationality or background, regardless of the language or country of production.

4. Language:
• Submissions can be in any language, provided they include English subtitles.

5. Genre: We welcome submissions across a variety of genres, including:
• Documentary
• Fiction
• Experimental
• Animation

6. Copyright and Ownership:
• The submitting party must own all necessary rightsto the content (e.g., music, visuals, script, etc.) and ensure there are no unresolved copyright disputes.
• The content must be original and not infringe on any third-party rights.

7. Streaming Platform Definition:
• The series should be intended for online streaming platforms (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, TikTok, or dedicated streaming services).• Series not intended for broadcast TV or theatrical release are prioritised.

8. Content Guidelines:
• Content must adhere to ethical standards and should not promote hate speech, discrimination or explicit violence.

9. Submission Format:
• Submissions must be made digitally via a link (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, or private screener link) with download enabled upon request.

10. Previous Screening and Distribution:
• Projects that have been previously released online or screened at other festivals are eligible but must not have exclusive streaming agreements that conflict with AIFF’s showcase.

11. Promotional Materials:
• Entrants must provide a high-resolution series poster, stills, and a short trailer (if available) for promotional use.

12. Commitment to AIFF Showcase:
• Selected creators must be willing to grant AIFF the right to showcase their series during the two-day program as part of Amman Film Industry Days.
