This section is open to Arab films and films whose director is a native Arab or of Arab background.
Only films released in 2023– 2024 are eligible.
All films must be Jordanian premiere. They must not have been previously screened in the country. Films already shown on any VOD or online platforms, TV, or any other similar media, as well as films that are available for purchase are not eligible. The AIFF reserves the right to decide eligibility.
Applicants should clearly indicate on the submission form which category they’re applying for (multiple categories per film are admitted).
- The film’s duration must be 52 minutes or longer to be eligible for this section.
- Any Arab feature-length narrative will be admitted in this section as long as the film includes a:
- First-time director (of a feature-length narrative) and/or
- First-time screenwriter (of a feature-length narrative) and/or
- First-time lead actor (in a feature-length narrative) and/or
- First-time lead actress (in a feature-length narrative)

- First-time editor (of a feature-length documentary)

- Only films (30 minutes maximum) by first-time directors are eligible. This includes: narrative, and animation short films. Short documentaries are not eligible.
- First short film by a director outside of an educational institution is eligible to apply as long as other criteria are met.
- Short-Film Awards will go to the director(s) of the corresponding films.
