Before starting his acting career in the Arab world, Dhafer Lโ€™Abidine enjoyed a successful career in the West, appearing in international productions such as โ€œThe Looming Towerโ€, which received four Emmy nominations. In 2020, he had a key role in โ€œThe Eddyโ€, produced and directed by Oscar-winner Damien Chazelle. Lโ€™Abidine starred in โ€œAroos Beirutโ€ as well as โ€œHalawat AlDouniaโ€, for which he won the Murex Dโ€™or for Best Arab Actor in a TV Series. In 2021, Lโ€™Abidine started his production company Double A Productions and directed his first feature film โ€œGhodwaโ€, which he co-wrote, starred in and produced in Tunisia. After its world premiere at Cairo International Film Festival, โ€œGhodwaโ€ scooped the International Federation of Film Critics prize in 2021 and competed at the AIFF in 2022. In 2023, Lโ€™Abidine directed his second film โ€œTo My Sonโ€ which was screened across the Middle East and won best script and best film at the Arab Hollywood film Festival.
