RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) requires all submitted films to be Jordanian premières, thus films previously screened in Jordan (whether in traditional cinemas, were aired on TV available in Jordan, were released on homevideo in Jordan, or were available officially on streaming platforms or video-on-demand sites) are not eligible.
  • Only film owners and/or their official distribution organisations are eligible to submit the films to the Festival. Film owners are defined as the principal producers, authorised distributors, or any person who owns the rights to the film
  • Only films that were released in 2023 or 2024 are accepted for the 5th Edition of the Festival
  • Feature-length narratives are only considered as such if their running-time is, or exceeds, 60 minutes.
  • Feature-length documentaries are only considered as such if their running-time is, or exceeds, 52 minutes.
  • Short films are only considered as such if their running-time is a maximum of 30 minutes.
  • The final selection of all films and their placement in the programme is the sole responsibility of the Festival.
  • The AIFF reserves the right to decide eligibility.
  • All films must be in their original language. If the language of the Film is not English, then it must be subtitled in English.
  • Submitted films must meet the conditions mentioned above, in addition to the specific selection criteria as described per section.

Arab Competition
  • Only films by Arab directors are eligible to compete. .
  • Please refer to the Official Competition section for additional requirements.
International Section
  • This section is open to feature-length films (all genres) from all over the world, as long as they are directed by Non-Arab first-timers.
  • Short films are not eligible for this section.
