Stories in the Making: AIFF Reveals Selected Film Projects

The seventh edition of the Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film will take place in Jordan from July 26 to August 3, 2026, with organisers unveiling the event’s official theme and artwork under the banner “Beyond the Frame.”
The festival’s leadership said the theme reflects a desire to explore stories that extend beyond what is visible on screen, highlighting the perspectives, emotions and human experiences that exist outside the boundaries of the cinematic image.
Princess Rym Ali, President and co-Founder of the Festival, said: “Beyond the Frame is an invitation to look further: beyond the image, beyond the screen and into the human stories that connect us. It is a recognition that some of the most essential parts of a story can lie just outside the edges; that beyond the image, there exists a variety of points of view. In a rapidly changing world and while AI impacts artistic tools in an unprecedented way, cinema remains a profoundly human act. It continues to expand our understanding of one another and to open new perspectives.”
Nada Doumani, Festival Director and co-Founder, stated: “As the Festival continues to grow, we will celebrate films that exceed the limits of the camera frame. More than ever, artists, intellectuals and cultural operators need to come together and remain attentive to stories that resist confinement and voices that continue to resonate long after the image fades.”
The festival’s official artwork has been created by creative agency FromSoda and was designed to visually capture the spirit of the theme by suggesting movement beyond the image toward broader horizons and new perspectives.
Organisers said additional details about the 2026 programme, including selected films, jury members and special guests, will be announced in the coming weeks as preparations continue for the upcoming edition of the festival.
