Yousry Nasrallah is an Egyptian filmmaker. He worked as a film critic in the Lebanese newspaper As-Safir from 1978 to 1982 and as an Assistant Director to Volker Schlondorff for his award-winning movie “Circle of Deceit” filmed in Beirut. Nasrallah became an assistant to Youssef Chahine, whose company “Misr International Films” would go on to produce his early films. His films were selected in Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Locarno film festivals. His 2012 film “After the Battle” competed for the “Palme d'Or” at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, while “El Medina” and “Brooks, Meadows and Lovely Faces” were nominated for the Golden Leopard at Locarno International Film Festival respectively in 1999 and 2016. His other works include: “Welcome Home” (mini-series 10 episodes), “18 Days” (2011), “Scheherazade Tell Me a Story” (2009) 2008 “The Aquarium” (2008), “Bab el Shams” (2004), “On Boys, Girls and the Veil” (documentary in 1995), “Mercedes” (1993) and “Summer Thefts” (1988). Nasrallah was a jury member in several international film festivals including in Cannes.
