Mehdi Hmili is a Tunisian director, producer and screenwriter. In 2019, Hmili participated in La Fabrique Cinéma du Monde at the Cannes Film Festival with the feature documentary "Fouledh." His feature film, "Streams," which he directed and co-produced, premiered at the 74th Locarno Film Festival and received widespread critical acclaim. The film garnered numerous accolades, including the Best Director Award at the 12th Malmö Arab Film Festival, Best Acting Performance at the 43rd Cairo International Film Festival and the Jury Award at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival among others.
Hmili is recognized as a prominent figure in the emerging generation of Tunisian producers and filmmakers. He plays a significant role in shaping the current Tunisian cinematographic landscape, actively supporting and promoting local talent through his company "Yol Film House". Hmili is an alumnus of Film Independent Global Media Makers and Torino Film Lab.
