Joana Hadjithomas

Filmmakers and artists, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige explore the making of images and representations, the construction of imaginaries, and the writing of history. Their works create connections between photography, video, performance, installation, sculpture, documentary, and fiction cinema, including ''Je Veux Voir'' (2008), ''A Perfect Day'' (2005), ''The Lebanese Rocket Society'' (2012), and ''Memory Box'' (2021). Over the years, they have received awards at major international film festivals, while their artworks have been presented in leading exhibitions and collections worldwide. In 2017, they were awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize for their art project ''Unconformities''. Their long-term research draws on personal and political archives, traces of the invisible and absent, hidden histories, and the archaeological layers of cities. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, they currently live and work between Beirut and Paris.
