This year’s edition of the Amman International Film Festival stands out with a variety of master classes featuring prominent filmmakers and industry professionals. The first session on Thursday 4th of July at 6 PM with is an encounter between two movie stars: Dhafer L’Abidine and Bushra Rozza, who will share their journeys in the acting world. This open dialogue will cover the challenges they faced at the start of their careers, how they handled rejection and the importance of choosing roles that align with their professional goals, offering valuable advice to aspiring actors.
The second master class, scheduled on Friday 5th of July at 6 PM, will feature the internationally renowned Palestinian actress and director Hiam Abbass, moderated by journalist Jihene Al Turki. We will delve into her rich experience in the film industry, from her early beginnings to her current status as an international actress. The discussion will cover the art of acting, overcoming challenges, choosing meaningful roles and the importance of advocating for causes through art. Additionally, we will explore how she handles fame, balances work with personal life. The session will also examine the influence of technology and social media on her career.
We will conclude our program on Monday 8th of July 2024, at 6 PM with an engaging meeting with Alana Hadid and Mounir Atallah, moderated by Jordanian director Fadi Haddad. We will delve into the core mission of “Watermelon Pictures,” aimed at empowering marginalized voices and amplifying them in the world. By showcasing real-life examples, we will discover together the power of authentic storytelling in challenging stereotypes and fostering empathy. The discussion will address the role of the creative industry in advocating against cultural distortion, highlighting impactful collaborations, and the influential role of films in societal change.
