Ridley Scott Joins the Amman Int’l Film Festival

Amman, Jordan – 10 May 2023 – The Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) is delighted to announce the establishment of its first International Advisory Board. The Board comprises eleven distinguished members of the film industry and the business world (by alphabetical order):
Omar Abu Jaber (businessman)
Mohannad Al Bakri (MD of The Royal Film Commission – Jordan)
Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat (MD of Jordan Tourism Board)
Georges Khabbaz (actor, writer, theatre director and university professor)
Lina de Ladoucette (culture and philanthropy consultant)
Samer Majali (CEO Royal Jordanian)
Rashid Masharawi (director, writer)
Saba Mubarak (actress, producer)
Yousry Nasrallah (director, writer)
Samir (director, producer)
Jihan El Tahri (director, writer, visual artist and producer)
The AIFF is delighted to welcome such a diverse and accomplished group of individuals to its advisory board. “With their extensive experience and knowledge of the film industry, international business and the art world, the Board will provide valuable insight and guidance to the festival’s organisers”, said Princess Rym Ali, President of the AIFF. “Our Festival is relatively young, but it has already left its mark on the map of international festivals, with its specific focus on fist-time achievements, mainly in Arab cinema. It has a character of its own, where quality and support to filmmakers matter above all other considerations”, added Nada Doumani, the Festival Director.
The AIFF is a major cultural event for the residents of Jordan, as well as for the film industry in the Arab World; it provides a platform for filmmakers, allowing them to showcase their work to a global audience. The festival has been very successful, attracting thousands of attendees and guests from abroad and has helped raise the profile of Amman as a cultural hub in the region.
The Festival is made possible with the support of long-standing partners, including but not limited to: Jordan Tourism Board, The Royal Film Commission – Jordan, Abdali Investment and Development, Zain Jordan and Royal Jordanian.
